Do you use a particular CMS product? We use two products and which one depends on the client's needs. Joomla is the leading CMS project out there and enjoys fantastic support and a huge community of developers and 3rd party contributors. Joomla's flexibility is outstanding. It's the best choice for complex websites requiring different components such as ecommerce, forums etc. We also use CMSMadeSimple which is a simple system that allows a static page to be created as a template and then used as the 'skin' for the CMS site. It's best for sites that don't need to be too complex but do need to be edited by the client. Back to top

How long will it take to complete my site? There are a number of factors that determine how long it'll take to get your site up on the web. Firstly, it depends how busy we are. Sometimes we may be able to slot a site in amongst other projects but at other times we may need to wait until we've got a clear desktop and can start afresh. The second factor is what you actually want us to do. A single static page may take only a day but an all-singing, all-dancing ecommerce project may take a couple of months. Thirdly, it depends on how quickly you can give us content. Although we can produce a design without needing too much information relating to what's actually going on the page, it really helps to know how much information the site needs to present (and how) so that we can create a design that works well. Do I have complete ownership of my new site? Yes you do. The site is yours to do whatever you want with. We'll host it for you but if you want to take it elsewhere we won't stop you. Back to top

I've got a computer. Why do I need hosting? A web server is a computer who's sole purpose in life is to hold websites ready to send to computers all over the globe. This is hosting. Host servers are machines that are on 24/7 and are protected by state of the art security (digital and physical) systems. The machines are constantly maintained by specialist engineers to ensure maximum uptime and have special software installed to make sure they can cope with the websites held on them. Back to top

What's a static site? A static site is a website that consists of a different page of code for each page on the screen. These sites can more economical to build than our CMS sites but can only be maintained by web designers/developers as a knowledge of (X)HTML, CSS and other languages is required. Static sites certainly aren't an old fashioned means of having a website. They can often look far more elegant than CMS sites as there are no constraints in the layout which can be the case in certain CMS solutions. Back to top
